Online dating Safety tips

One of the most common reasons why people do not feel comfortable with online dating is because they feel that their personal profile will be exploited and hacked.

But really, you do not have to worry about this and you dont need to worry that people are going to stalk you and come visit you at home.

There are simple and logic steps to follow:

  • Your email address is like gold. I know that you protect it like crazy. You hate receiving mails from people or places that you did not give permission too.
  • So when you chat to people online or when you load your profile onto a dating site then make use of a free email address such as hotmail or yahoo.
  • If you are receiving mails from someone that you do not want to communicate with then set up a filter. When this is set up then you can filter messages directly to trash.
  • Going to the next step of meeting for the first time. I always recommend that if you decide to take your communication public then first talk to the person telephonically and meet the person in a public place.
  • Never assume you know the person well enough to meet somewhere discreet when you have been chatting via email only.
  • Go on a couple of face-to-face dates before you decide to meet at a place where there is no people around. And this goes for male and female. Its better to be safe than sorry.
  • Never limit yourself to the first person you meet online. There are many potentials out there so explore all of them before you make your final decision.

  • Dont give any personal details such as your telephone numbers, where you stay or where you work. If the person asks where you work then tell them you are in the insurance industry for example.
  • Never give out any personal financial details.
  • When you create your profile dont use your name as a username make up a username such as cupid or love seeker or whatever tickles your fancy.

Most people who are registered with online dating sites are genuine and looking for a partner but it cost you nothing to look after your personals. Also use common sense when you engage in online dating.
