Have you ever heard of speed dating? It is almost like going a blind date, ok, not that stressfull.
I remember going on blind dates, which were organized by friends. After all I was single at that time so what did I have to lose.
I hated every blind date I went on cause I just did not fit with the potential partner. There are just to many reasons why blind dates didnt work for me.
So, lets check out speed dating.
What is speed dating?
I remember dating during times when everything was done without the help of technology. I remember girls did not ask guys out and instead sat at home waiting in agony for the phone to ring. Then I knew guys who did not know what to say when they actually phoned a girl...
Enter the magical world of speed dating.
It basically works in the following manner:
A group of eligible men and women will meet at a venue that is arranged by the organiser.
This is vague- I know, so here's the nitty gritty
Log onto a speed dating website, if you dont know of one then check Google for one that is in your area or close to your area.
The website will outline different venues and different age groups so you can obviously choose which age group you are in. Now you have to register online or phone the contact number to book yourself and this is a fee which you have to pay.
If the speed dating was advertised in the newspaper then the contact details will be given step by step.
Once you have registered now all you have to do is pitch up at the venue given by the organiser.
Basically what you will be exposed to is a group of men and women which are most probably all single meet at the proposed venue. The amount of women and men that are present are usually exactly the same. The venue where all the prospects will meet will either be a hotel, restaurant or some fancy place in public of course.
So when you entered your age category then you will come to a session where you will only meet people in the same age category. So if you are 20 then you will not meet people who are 70. I hope you not like that though.
When you arrive at the venue then the women and men will be seated opposite each other along a long narrow table.
Then when a siren or bell goes off then the two potential dates will start chatting for 3 or 4 minutes until the siren goes again then the male must move to the right to the next potential date and so it continues.
What if you like a speed date?
At the beginning you will receive a score sheet and on this piece of paper will be the potentials that you are going to meet that evening. On this paper you will have to tick yes or no beside the name of the person that you have just spoken too. Make brief notes of the person if you want to.
You will have to hand in your score sheet at the end of the evening and your details will be checked by the organisers to see if you have any matches.
So how do you know if you have a match?
Say for example that you just loved chatting to John for example then you tick his name and you say yes on your score sheet. And John ticks your name on his sheet cause he just loved your lips then that is a match.
The organisers will send you a mail the next day or the day thereafter saying you have a potential match and off you go.
Who attends speed dating?
Most times its the professionals in their particular fields that come to these events. This is because they stay in their office or mingle with office people and family only. This is so sad but they are making a start by attending speed dating. And this is good.
Speed dating is positioned for the person who leads a busy lifestyle and that do not have the time to attend parties to meet people. They feel they would rather do it in a more structured way.
But hey dont worry if you are not a professional who works for a blue chip company. Your chance of finding someone is as great as the next person.
Speed dating might not be everyones cup of tea cause some people will just freeze when they speak to someone knowing that they only have 4 minutes cause they can feel the pressure is on.
